Thanks for Making the "1st Annual Empowerment Luncheon, Mini-Tradeshow, & Youth Fundraiser" a Great Success! --Mack & Tekelia Kelly See below for highlights of the event.
SIB's “1st Annual Empowerment Luncheon, Mini-Tradeshow, and Youth Fundraiser” for Girls Inc.’s GirlVENTURE Entrepreneurship Academy has been deemed a great success by all those who shared the experience. The event took place June 15, 2006 at Bessie Smith Hall with Keynote Speaker Sandi Brock of the SEWBC, Honorable Representatives Tommi Brown and JoAnne Favors, Girl’s Inc President and CEO Maxine Bailey with staff and academy girls, Jacqueline Strong-Moss, Ann Weeks, and honored guest Maelene Crutcher. Others included Chattanooga businesses, SIB clients and partners, tradeshow vendors, and friends from the community. The event was covered by WRCB-TV Channel 3 News, which aired that night, highlighting the entrepreneurship bridge between Sisters In Business and Girl's Inc. Chattanooga Times Free Press published an article the next day, generating sales leads, one vendor said, from someone seeing the article. Vendors also sold goods at the tradeshow. For more highlights of the event see online photos and program at sistersinbusiness.net

AFTER EVENT NOTES: This event took place on Thursday June 15, 2006 with Exhibitor Hall Opening at 10:30 AM and lunch starting promptly at 11:30 AM. The Exhibitor Hall reopened at 12:45 PM-2:00 PM. We made the television news that night at 5:30 PM on WRCB Channel 3!! The station covered the event so beautifully…with great spot coverage and time showing SIB business clients and their business exhibits. The Chattanooga Times Free Press also covered the event, and published a wonderful article the next day in its business section.
We left the event with women openly expressing how they felt empowered! They spoke about how they benefited from sharing and gathering resources and information from each other, and from seeing the harmonious flow of sisterhood. The comments and ratings on the event luncheon evaluations attest to the success of the event as well.
The presentation by Keynote Speaker Sandi Brock of the Southeast Women's Business Center was EXCELLENT! Hitting the target, it covered the statistics, the available business development resources, and the Network, Plan, Execute strategy for succeeding in business. This strategy so much correlates with the SIB NAME strategy which is to Network, Advertise, Market, and Empower through education, training, exchange of information with others, and engagement (true relationships).
This has been a BLAST! And we're already planning for next year's event...which will be EVEN BIGGER AND BETTER! Please see below for Program Participants, Dignitaries, Tradeshow Exhibitors, and the Event Program Booklet.
