candles, floral designs, art & crafts,
books, pictures, decorated accessories, novelty items, and
more! Yes, we heard you, our wonderful vendors and customers, say you
wanted another marketplace showcase...soon.
Well here it is, one that is sure to be
beautiful, and offer a unique and wonderful variety of
vendors
from all over the southeast region, as well as exhibitors
from other businesses and organizations.

financially friendly event. The Showcase will also serve as a fundraiser*
where your $1.00 admission will help make a difference in the community over the
holidays. After all, it's a Sisters In Business "thing", and you know we

luncheon took place on June 15, 2006 at the Bessie Smith Performance Hall,
and included a Mini-Tradeshow and Youth Fundraiser for Girl's Inc.
GirlVENTURE Entrepreneurship Summer Academy.
The event was covered by WRCB-TV Channel 3 News, and aired that night,
highlighting the entrepreneurial bridge constructed between Sisters In
Business and Girl's Inc. at the luncheon. Chattanooga Times Free

Study Regarding Minorities and Women-Owned Businesses Before
Council. Deferred Until later date
The Disparity Study, scheduled to reviewed by the
Chattanooga City Council the week of June 27, has been deferred until a
later date to assure ample attendance of council members.
The study involves several factors, of which include the
analysis of contracting practices, and
equal
opportunity for participation in contracts
where
minorities and women owned businesses are concerned.
Also the study is to provide "both qualitative and
quantative data from a socio-economic perspective that will be used to
drive the work of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and its advisory
board."

The 28th Legislative District
Community Development Corporation is pleased to invite entrepreneurs to an
informational meeting on Tuesday the 25th of July, 2006 that will address
opportunities on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The primary focus of this
meeting will be business opportunities in a real estate project set to
begin construction in early July.
The meeting will provide
information on the individual prospects related to this project, and also,
general information on opportunities along the MLK corridor. Additionally
this meeting will provide information on the types of financing available
and the steps one would be encouraged to take to successfully start a
business along MLK.
