Sisters In Business is proud to spotlight sponsor Scenic City Women's Network (SCWN), where Patti Harris is the Executive Director.

Scenic City Women’s Network is a ministry designed to 'Encourage, Equip and Energize' today's Christian working woman. The ministry began in 1994 as a non-profit organization and is financially supported by the faithful giving of those who are committed to this ministry. SCWN offers monthly luncheons, newsletters, prayer ministry, weekly Marketplace Meditations and Marketplace Bible studies

In addition to being the Executive Director of Scenic City Women's Network since March 2003, Mrs. Harris' has worked as a professional business woman in the business world. SIB asked Mrs. Harris if SCWN would be interested in providing in-kind support to help promote the upcoming Sisters In Business Holiday Shopping Showcase and Business Expo event on November 4, 2006. This event is designed to benefit the Chattanooga Community Kitchen while supporting women-owned and small businesses in Chattanooga and surrounding areas. "We would be happy...being a sponsor. Through the programs and activities of Scenic City Women's Network, many women in the workforce are benefiting from the organization's mission which is to "encourage, equip and energize today's Christian working women to live their faith in the world and to create opportunities and experiences to further their faith".

Sponsors will be "spotlighted" and given recognition in print communications and verbal announcement throughout the event. Sponsors will be recognized during media campaigns via television stations, news papers, trade journals, and other communication channels whenever possible. Sponsors will be given a company table at the tradeshow for use as needed with special signage of company name, and placed accordingly in top billing section of event program. Platinum and Gold level sponsors will also be "flagship" sponsors with logos placed on both event banner and cover of program booklet.

Sponsors and Advertisers will be highlighted on Sisters In Business Website, in Sisters In Business print newsletter distributed throughout Chattanooga and surrounding areas; as well as in Sisters In Business Online Newsletter published weekly via our website and through Email Marketing Campaigns, all of which has a target audience potential of over 60,000 people. There will be a group of presenters covering topics on good business practices. There is a small cost, which includes refreshments. This is an all day event with limited space available so people will need to make a reservation.

Seminars related to effective business practices will be presented on networking, accessing the supply chain, information technology, SBA loans, Marketing and global business opportunities. Tuesday from 8 a.m-4 p.m. at the Eastgate Town Center. A registration fee of $40.00 will be charged to each seminar participant and a discount will be given to companies with two (2) or more people.

Vendor tables are (8’) and are available for a $100.00 fee. Set up time for the EXPO is 8 a.m. and is free to the public. Reservations are encouraged to ensure seating at the seminar. Chattanooga’s Ronald McDonald House To Hold Its 17th Annual Autumn Children’s Festival on October 7 & 8

What: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga will hold its 17th Annual Autumn Children’s Festival on Saturday, October 7, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 8, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Tennessee Riverpark on Amnicola Highway. Autumn Children’s Festival will feature several NEW inflatables and activities this year including:

A 35 foot Pinball Megaslide, Bungee First Down, Sponge Bob Jump, and a 70 foot Obstacle Course – Pirates Adventure. Also new this year are hot cider and donuts, a tasty treat for fall. Children and families will enjoy carnival games with great prizes, arts and crafts with an autumn theme, pony rides, a petting zoo, magic shows, music, and many more fun activities for kids of all ages plus health and educational programs. Admission is free. Cost of activities range from 50 cents to $3.00.

Here are a few tips to fit exercise into your life in simple painless ways

Take Baby Steps

Keep in mind that a little is better than none and you can do something starting today, so don’t worry about what you will do tomorrow, next week, or next month. Of course this may be hard for that person who expects a lot from themselves and prefers to set long-term fitness goals. Expect to take small steps every day and don’t expect results overnight.

Starting Now

I know most people are thinking if I start exercising that must mean I have to join a gym. Your exercise program can begin right in the comfort of your home and back yard. It does not have to be elaborate, and you don’t have to join a gym or even sweat for an hour every day. If you make a list of your current day to day activities you may discover you already walk 15 to 20 minutes a day.

Please note walking your dog, running after toddlers, going up and down the stairs in your home is considered exercise. You can use the things you are already doing to jumpstart your exercise program by adding another 5 to 10 minutes or even walk at a faster pace. Are you getting the picture now? Just start where you are.
