SIB Spotlights
Treasa Newton,
Partner and
Sponsor of Showcase
Sisters
In Business is proud to spotlight sponsor Treason Newton of Woman's Way Journal.
Woman's way is a very well read and loyally embraced publication which covers
practically every area of interests for its readers. It also covers well
the all of Chattanooga along with seven surrounding counties.
In addition to being a very
experienced business woman and publisher, Mrs. Treason is a woman who values
relationship with other businesses, as evidenced by her "in-kind" support of
Sisters In Business 1st Annual Holiday Shopping Showcase & Business Expo via her
Woman's Way Journal.
"You've got to promote it.
Building a better mouse trap is not enough anymore. "
Treasa Newton, Woman's Way Journal
It is always
delightful to encounter a business woman who has a achieved a level of success,
and still have in tack her sense of goodwill, good values, and good business
ethics, which includes her taking the time share and/or mentor others who are
also on the entrepreneurial path. Mrs. Newton is indeed such a person.
She offers a
wealth of business know-how and business savvy (intuition) which
makes sitting down and talking with her a real benefit and empowering.
In an interview
Mrs. Newton stated, "I think something is needed for
women in business, because many times women business owners are so wrapped up in
putting the business together (i.e. planning for business cards, computers,
etc.) that they don't realize there's the need to make their business visible,
and to promote their business."
She went on to explain how, "It used
to be said that if you 'build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path
to your door.' Today, you've got to promote it [your business].
Building a better mouse trap is not enough anymore," she said.
Treason Newton is the December 2006 Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SIB's "Lunch & Learn". To

profile by

SIB Seeks to Empower Women to Be
Healthy! Introducing Felicia Wilson, SIB Health/Fitness Writer
(We regret the error. This article
is being
republished due to incompleteness in last week's issue.)
Sisters In Business is happy
and proud to introduce Felicia
D. Wilson, a certified Health & Fitness Instructor Felicia as a
column writer for Sisters In Business. Felicia has been asked to
share her expertise with SIB readers in an effort to help empower women
to stay fit and healthy.
Felicia
is married to Marcus
D. Wilson. They have
very active 11 year
old (Akina), nd
18 year old step
daughter (DeAngela) and grandson. She was raised in a single parent home
as the middle child of 3 girls. She graduated from UTC (University
of
Tennessee @
Chattanooga) in 2000 with a BS degree in Psychology. She is
employed by UnumProvident and has worked for the last 6 years as a
Senior Disability Benefit Specialist
Fitness has been apart
of Felicia's life for over 10 years.
She has been a
certified instructor for 3 years. She teaches aerobic and strength
training classes during her lunch breaks at work. Felicia began
teaching a fitness classes at New United Church, and later started a
fitness class at her current place of worship St. Elmo Missionary
Baptist Church.
Felicia
had
struggled with coming
up with a name and mission statement. Then she shared that the Holy
Spirit spoke to her and gave her the word "Faith". Understanding that
Faith is "the thing hoped for and the evidence of things not seen",
Felicia began thinking about a person who has never worked out, yet
having a desire to workout. She thought about how this person would need
faith to know that the results will come with the work.
"Well to make a long story short", said Felicia, the name of the class is "Faithful
Fitness". She explained that the fitness class' foundation is
built on I
Corinthian 9-19-20: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not
your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your
body."
Felicia also shared that
she gets great joy out of the class and having the ladies trust in the
gift that God has given her to help them better themselves. She
feels that as her class is building up themselves, they are also
building up the kingdom of God.
"I am so grateful and
thankful to my wonderful husband and daughter. They share me unselfishly
with not only the fitness ministry, but with our women's ministry and
discipleship classes for our youth", Felicia said.
Look for
the Sisters In Business
Health and Fitness
column written by "Faithful Fitness" Instructor Felicia Wilson starting
in the month of October 2006.

WE WANT YOU!
That's AYES! Sisters In Business
has a passion for youth, and also wish for them to discover their
potential to do business as young business entrepreneurs. That's why
the
Sisters In
Business Holiday Shopping Showcase & Business Expo 2006
has allotted a limited number of tables for young folk (15-21) who
may wish to do business and showcase their talent and skills. Do you know
a young person who has marketable skills? Do they show the potential
of being in a junior business? Maybe they
are good at word processing, or other office applications, provide computer
training or computer technical support, can sing, dance, or do
dramatizations for special occasions, create dynamic drawings and
wonderful paintings, knit or crochet beautiful blankets, braid hair, has
baby sitting service, write story/poetry books, or tutor children.
Maybe you, or someone you know, could help
sponsor such a youth on this day. Why not help some young person develop
their talents and abilities and show them how their skills are a
marketable resource that could help sustain and financially support them
in life if/when needed. Get their business
plan, display, and business cards ready, and coach them that day as they
explore the world of entrepreneurship and business commerce.

"This week I am at the
Jack and Jill sale at Eastgate. It is a great place to get some great
resale kids clothes.
I don’t see as wide of an ethnic base at these shows. I would
think every parent could benefit from cheaper clothes for the kids. So
tell everyone you know about the
www.JackandJillSale.com show at East gate. I
try to spread the word because we all can use a help with that kids
clothing budget. They just grow so fast.
I have already picked up a train table and a Lego table and got tons of

stuff (even though I don’t shop at the stores originally). You never
